Miscellaneous manuscripts, 1837-1838.

Three letters from Francis C. Wemyss of Pittsburgh to Russel Smith of Philadelphia, dated 5 October 1837 and 28 April and 7 May 1838. The letter of 28 April 1838 includes an extract of a letter from John Laurie to Wemyss dated 25 April. Smith was an artist at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia; in 1838 he accepted an offer to move to the Chestnut Street Theatre. Wemyss' letter of 28 April is addressed to Smith at the "American Theatre, Walnut St.," which is probably the Walnut Street Theatre.
